Bradenton, FL—HP Ingredients has announced anew studyperformed on IQ200, demonstrating the ingredient’s value for brain support, mood support, and healthy aging supplements.

IQ200 is a water-soluble ingredient made fromPersicaria minor, an herb that has been shown in clinical studies to improve cognitive flexibility, processing speed, and executive function in adults, according to a press release. Other studies have demonstrated improvements in working memory and brain-derived neurotrophic factor. This study is the first one, however, to be performed on older adults, aged 60-75 years old.

Published in BMC Complementary Medicine and Therapies, the multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study investigated the effect of six months ofPersicaria minor extract on 30 adults with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI). Each subject consumed either 250mg of IQ200 or a placebo twice daily. Cognitive function and mood were assessed at baseline, three months, and six months using neuropsychological tests and Profile of Mood State questionnaire.

The findings: 6 months of supplementation showed significant improvements in negative mood states including tension, anger, and confusion.
