The History of Natural Grocers
The grocer shared a look back at its beginnings: In 1955, Margaret and Phillip Iselywent door-to-door inGolden, CO, to educate their neighbors about nutrition. They also let the community taste the goodness, handing out samples of homemade whole grain bread. Soon, they opened a store—a little house nestled within a neighborhood. The community embraced the space, with people lining up to talk to Margaret about nutrition.
In the 67 years that followed, the company expanded to 163 locations in 21 states. Now operated by the second and third generations of the Isely family, Natural Grovcers still prides itself on being a neighborhood grocery store offering nutrition education, healthy foods and planet-prioritizing practices.
